Hemp oil is part of the cannabis family of plant species and has two primary classifications — Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa.
Marijuana is considered a member of either the Cannabis Indica or Cannabis Sativa families, but Hemp is a member of ONLY the Cannabis Sativa family.
The biggest difference between Hemp and Marijuana is that the Hemp plant does not contain high concentrations of naturally occurring tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive element present in the cannabis plant.
Another difference is that Cannabis Indica is believed to be physically sedating while Cannabis Sativa tend to provide more invigorating and uplifting.
There is also a visible difference between the two plants.
How is Hemp Oil Made?
CBD stands for cannabidiol (can· na· bi· di· ol) as it is derived from the cannabis plant.
Both marijuana and hemp are varieties of cannabis, but hemp is the strain of cannabis that contains high quantities of CBD and small amounts of THC. The federally legal concentration of THC in CBD oil derived from industrial hemp is 0.3 percent of THC. However, the minuscule amount of THC can be removed, thus any doubt can be eliminated regarding it as being a controlled substance.
The process begins when the hemp plants are harvested and sent for extraction. Producers of CBD oil have a few options in their extraction methods of CBD oil. Regarding the most commonly used methods, the CBD oil is extracted via CO2 extraction and/or alcohol extraction. In contrast, hemp seed oil is made by pressing hemp seeds. This hemp oil does not provide therapeutic benefits but does contain healthy fatty acids.

Cannabidiol CBD oil can be used as a health supplement for supporting a more balanced mind and body. This is achieved by supporting the endocannabinoid system, a bodily system closely linked to the nervous and immune systems. CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream and is effective throughout the body.
You may hear the terms "Full Spectrum" or "Nano Enhanced" when learning about Hemp Oil.
Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum Hemp Oil
A common type of Hemp Oil is Full Spectrum. It is achieved when additional compounds from the hemp plant are included during extraction. These compounds are necessary to promote better absorption in the body and quicken the positive effects.
This form of CBD Hemp Oil may be ingested and is typically administered with a dropper.
You put the oil under your tongue for at least 30 seconds before swallowing. One dropper full in this form may also be added to food and drinks.
You can increase the amount gradually for maximum benefit. It is water soluble and therefore may be added to ultrasonic diffusers and humidifiers.
The best-recommended dose of hemp oil requires attention to the effects on the body. If a strong effect is desired, increase gradually. You cannot overdose, but you should begin your experience with discretion.
Nano-technology leads to greater absorption of the oil. By creating nanoparticles that are so small, they can be absorbed into your bloodstream more efficiently than larger particles of the same substance. Nano-technology reduces the molecular size of particles for the highest bioavailability and the fullest absorption of the oil possible.
Hemp oil + Endocannabinoid System
Our brain and body produce natural compounds called endocannabinoids. These compounds are similar to the ones found in Hemp Oil.
Hemp oil works particularly well in individuals have deficiencies in endocannabinoids due to poor lifestyle choice or stress. Hemp oil fills the gap and mimics these naturally occurring endogenous compounds to restore this balance.
Hemp oil is generally well tolerated and considered safe. Like any product you ingest into your body, it may cause adverse reactions in some people. Side effects noted in studies include diarrhea, changes in appetite, and fatigue.
Your pets can also benefit from Hemp Oil and CBD. Hemp oil is THC-free and contents include a full-range of synergistic cannabinoids to promote the most complete absorption within your pet's body. Water solubility allows pet-safe hemp oil to be diffused or blended with any food or beverages for oral consumption.
The 2018 Farm Bill included CBD within its definition of legal hemp, so CBD derived from industrial hemp and possesses a THC concentration no more than 0.3% is not subject to the federal Controlled Substances Act. Specifically, the 2018 Farm Bill removed CBD derived from industrial hemp off of the DEA’s controlled substances list and recategorized it as an agriculture commodity. All parts of the industrial hemp plant, including CBD, are now federally legal in the United States.
